Volvo XC90’s Bowers & Wilkins sound system, the first sound system in the world based on the Dirac Unison® sound optimization technology, has been named “Best Audio System – over £25,000” at the inaugural Car Tech Awards.
The XC90 Bowers & Wilkins audio system with Dirac Unison sets new standards for the automotive industry. It combines the expertise and innovations of premium HiFi equipment company Bowers & Wilkins and world-renowned audio technology company Dirac Research.
Dirac Unison co-optimizes the 18-loudspeaker system of XC90 in frequency, time and space for the best possible bass integration and clarity. This unique approach creates an astounding bass response and an effortless musical quality to the sound experience, while minimizing in-seat and between-seat sound quality variations. It also enables recreation of individual acoustic environments from certain performance venues. At the touch of a button, the XC90 audio system can be tailored to mirror the precise acoustics of the Gothenburg Concert Hall, a recording studio or a live stage environment.
Jon Bray, Reviews Editor at Alphr.com, said: “We were hugely impressed by the XC90’s Bowers & Wilkins audio system that, while a significant investment for the buyer, betters systems costing far more.”
Niklas Thorin, General Manager of BU High Performance at Dirac, commented: “We are pleased to work with Volvo to raise the bar for premium car audio systems. The Car Tech Award goes to the first sound system in the world based on Dirac Unison. Sound engineers have called Dirac Unison a paradigm shift, and the award underlines how advanced digital optimization is establishing new standards in premium car audio.”
