Dirac Research Partners With OPPO Electronics To Equip Its Smartphones With A Superior Listening Experience

Dirac Power Sound, Dirac HD Sound, and Dirac Sensaround speaker and headphone optimization solutions transform OPPO smartphones and their corresponding headphones into next generation ‘on-the-go’ home theaters.

UPPSALA, SWEDEN, July 20, 2017 — Strengthening its global leadership position in mobile audio optimization, Sweden’s Dirac Research today announced a strategic partnership with OPPO Electronics, one of the world’s largest mobile device manufacturers, to equip all OPPO smartphones, including their recently launched R11 and R11 Plus, with its mobile audio optimization solutions. According to Dirac General Manager — Mobile Erik Rudolphi, this partnership is yet another indicator of the growing consumer demand for premium listening experiences in all entertainment devices – including smartphones.

“OPPO is widely viewed as one of the most innovative, forward-thinking, and fast-moving mobile device manufacturers in the world – and for good reason,” said Rudolphi. “They have a keen understanding of market trends and are acutely aware of the growing consumer demand for a premium mobile audio experience. We’re honored to partner with a company who so clearly shares the same exceedingly high design and engineering standards that we do.”

Continuing the same idea, a senior company representative from OPPO said, “OPPO pays great attention to consumer needs and we aim to deliver best-in-class user experiences, which has only become more true through this strategic partnership with Dirac. Leveraging their sophisticated audio technologies in our smartphones help provide our customers across the globe with a truly impressive, category-leading listening experience.”

Going forward, OPPO smartphones, including their all-new flagship R11 and R11 Plus models, will be equipped with Dirac Power Sound, a speaker-optimization solution that delivers full-sized audio playback; clearer, more natural sound with richer detail; and a tighter, more powerful bass. Dirac Power Sound leverages key technologies that the company has used in the premium automobile and HiFi markets for years – such as frequency and impulse response correction and bass optimization – in order to empower small transducers to reproduce the best sound quality possible at the highest volume with astonishing detail and clarity.

As part of this partnership, OPPO will also be utilizing Dirac’s headphone optimization solutions – Dirac HD Sound and Dirac Sensaround. By correcting both the impulse response and frequency response of the headphone audio system, Dirac HD Sound can transform a distorted sound stage, feeble bass or poor clarity into a pristine, dynamic sound experience. Dirac Sensaround is a complementary technology to that of Dirac HD Sound, as it creates a vast, clear and realistically immersive soundstage free from the constraints of the space in your ear. Together, Dirac’s headphone optimization solutions create clear, yet powerful, fully immersive listening experience.

“As the smartphone becomes a go-to device for entertainment consumption – both while on-the-go and at-home – the device’s audio quality and clarity becomes of critical importance,” continued Rudolphi. “Our suite of mobile audio solutions transforms a smartphone into an on-the-go home theater, allowing customers to enjoy powerful, pristine, and immersive audio from anywhere in the world!”

This strategic partnership comes on the heels of a momentous 2017, which has already included the launch of Dirac VR – a breakthrough 3D audio platform that recently won “Best Virtual Reality Industry Technology” at London Tech Week’s Tech XLR8 award ceremony – and a fundraising round of $4.8million USD to further develop its VR and mobile audio solutions.

Dirac’s suite of audio optimization solutions are currently used by other leading mobile device manufacturers, in addition to blue chip technology companies in the automobile and home theater markets such as Rolls-Royce, Bentley, Volvo, Harman, NAD Electronics, Storm Audio, Datasat, Pioneer, and many more.
