Forbes interviewed our CEO Mathias Johansson to find out more about the future of video conferencing. What does the future of conference calls…sound like? Below you can read an extract from the article “Why do we suffer from Zoom Fatigue? It’s all about the sound” by Mark Sparrow, Forbes. You can read the full article here.

Many of us have gotten a second office lately in the video conferencing tool Zoom, and other video conferencing solutions. “Zoom fatigue” is on everybody’s lips these days and refers to the fact that digital conferences consume, and completely drain, your energy. This is the result of the unclear and unnatural listening experience that comes with digital meetings. But there is a solution to this problem and it’s all about how spatial sound, or 3D sound, can make the listening experience more natural.

Put your headphones on and listen to the difference Dirac audio technologies make.

Why do we suffer from Zoom Fatigue? It’s all about the sound
“The flat and unidirectional cacophony of the audio of a virtual meeting can be helped with the use of 3D audio technology or spatial audio. This technology can address the audio shortcomings of video meetings. Imagine you’re on a video call with four colleagues and when the person in the upper left of the screen speaks, her voice in your headphones or sounds as if it’s originating from that direction in space. There’s no quick visual scan needed to know who’s speaking; 3D audio lets you know immediately. By using digital sound optimization technology, the timing, volume, resonance and echo characteristics of each voice can be controlled as it reaches the ear and enables the listener to accurately ‘place’ the voice exactly where it should be”, Mathias Johansson, CEO Dirac.
