Beta Testing

If you would like to be a beta tester for the Dirac Live feature “Bass Management”, please sign up in the form below.

For this beta program there is no option to apply room correction or bass management in dedicated hardware, such as an AVR or other external processing unit; rather all processing will take place on the PC.

What are the requirements to participate?

  • Platform

    • Windows 10/MacOS Mojave

  • Multi-channel sound card

    • Audio Interface

    • Multi Channel Sound Card

    • HDMI Audio

  • Measurement microphone

  • VST Host [Note: The following hosts are tested and confirmed as working. If you are using other hosts than the ones listed, please do not hesitate to test them out]

    • AudioMulch

    • Juce Plugin Host

    • JRiver

  • 2.1 or greater sound system

    • Note that additional full range speakers can be used for the purpose of evening out the bass response. For instance, a 5.1 speaker system with all full range speakers can be used as a 2.3 or 2.4 system for the purpose of this beta testing.

How does it work?

We will supply a VST plugin that supports Dirac Live and our new Bass Management technology. As of now there is no option to run Dirac Live Bass Management natively in any AVR/Processor/Stereo system, the processing will run on your PC.

This beta testing process only supports 2.n system layouts, where n is the number of subwoofers that you want to use. It is of course possible to use any additional full range speakers as subwoofers for testing. For instance a 5.1 system with surround speakers that have a meaningful bass extension can be run as a 2.3 or 2.4 system.

In order to use the plugin you will need a VST host of some kind, ideally with channel routing capabilities, even if this is not required. You will also need a multi-channel sound card, an easy way to achieve this is to use the HDMI audio output if your computer has one, and then use any AVR that supports multi-channel audio playback over HDMI.

You will also need a reliable measurement microphone, such as the UMIK-1.

Exactly how to perform playback on the calibrated system will depend on your choice of VST host. In the included documentation some example use cases are described, but there are limitless options.
