What is it

Dirac Live Bass Control is a specialised algorithm that optimises the low-frequency performance of your home audio system. It runs alongside Dirac Live Room Correction to manage the interaction between your subwoofers and speakers.

Ideal for

Home Hi-Fi Audio Systems
Home Theatres
Music Studios

What it does

Dirac Bass Control specifically analyses the behaviour of low frequencies across your room and applies dynamic correction to address any issues.

The main benefits

  • Tight, balanced bass
  • Consistent bass sound throughout your space

Key features

  • Full-System Bass Modeling

Subwoofers and full-range speakers are treated as a cohesive system to manage low-frequency output and crossovers holistically.

  • Room-Aware Processing

The algorithm adapts its corrections based on the unique size, shape, and reflective surfaces of your room.

  • Multiple Subwoofer Support

Bass Control optimises performance, whether you have one sub or multiple units, improving consistency across seats.

  • Phase and Timing Correction:

Phase and arrival time are aligned between subs and speakers, so bass blends seamlessly rather than feeling disconnected.

  • Cross-Channel Optimization

Dirac Bass Control analyses how low frequencies from each channel combine and then adjusts accordingly to avoid unwanted peaks and dips.

  • Integrated Workflow

Bass Control is managed through the Dirac Live interface for easy setup and monitoring.

The details

Where it runs

Dirac Live runs directly on your audio device — AVR, soundbar or streamer – or from your computer as standalone or DAW plugin.

Check for compatibility

  • How to calibrate and set it up

    1. Desktop calibration

First, you gather data related to your space using the Dirac Live app, along with a measurement mic. Bass Control then runs a more detailed analysis on the subwoofers and their interaction with the rest of your system.

    2. Filter application

Whether you're using one sub or several, Dirac automatically time-aligns and levels them, applying filters that correct room-related bass issues.

  • Options available

Dirac Live Bass Control can be run:

Directly from your audio device - after creating filters with the Dirac Calibration tool, they will be automatically applied by your device for a seamless experience.

As a desktop tool - filters can be applied from your computer, even if your device is not compatible with Dirac software. Speakers simply need to be connected to your computer when playing, with Dirac Live activated.

  • Technical requirements

Bass Control requires Dirac Live Room Correction to run.
