Which microphone do I need for Dirac Live?

Dirac Live Microphone Requirements

To optimise your sound system with Dirac Live, you’ll need a calibration microphone. This mic captures a test signal, known as a sweep, which is used to create a virtual acoustic model of your room. The software then analyses this sweep to understand the unique acoustic characteristics of your space.

Dirac live calibration

For these precise calibrations, it’s essential that the microphone:

1. Is omnidirectional.

2. Is rated for audio calibration.

3. Comes with a compensation/calibration file.

For Dirac Live, we recommend the miniDSP UMIK-1 microphone due to its ease of use, universal drivers, and dedicated calibration file available from the manufacturer.

However, any USB calibration microphone that satisfies the above requirements should work.
