Responding to increasing demand for superior audio in high-performance stereo systems, Swedish digital audio pioneer Dirac today announced that Dirac Live Bass Control will now be available as an upgrade option in NAD Electronics’ M33, M33 V2, M10, M10 V2, M10 V3 and C 658.
Dirac Live Bass Control fine-tunes bass performance, eliminating boomy resonances for impactful, immersive sound, regardless of the listener’s location or room environment. Powered by advanced AI and machine learning, the software aggregates measurement and location data from each subwoofer to determine how a system’s bass is distributed throughout the room. It then identifies gaps in the sound waves and distributes bass evenly across the listening area.
Dirac Live Bass Control achieves key benefits, including smoother low-frequency transition at the crossover point between subwoofers and speakers; consistent low-frequency response throughout the listening area; bass management on multiple subwoofers; flexible subwoofer placement.
The NAD M33, M33 V2, M10, M10 V2, M10 V3 and C 658, which come equipped with Dirac Live Room Correction, now support Dirac Live Bass Control as an optional license upgrade – enabling users to further enhance their listening experience with consistently great bass throughout the room. For Dirac Live Bass Control, users are required to update their NAD streaming amplifier to the latest of BluOS, version 4.16.6. A Dirac Calibration Mic Kit is also available and sold separately for NAD products.
“The integration of Dirac Live Bass Control into select NAD amps marks a strong step forward, expanding Dirac’s market presence while enhancing the audio performance of NAD’s renowned lineup," stated Rikard Hellerfelt, VP and Head of Consumer Electronics at Dirac. "Traditionally, configuring subwoofers for optimal performance has been complex and often imprecise. Our advanced bass control technology co-optimizes subwoofers and speakers, creating a seamless blend at the crossover point. This innovation eliminates seat-to-seat sound variation, delivering impactful bass that’s free of unwanted reflections and boominess – making premium bass quality accessible to everyone, from professional installers and audiophiles to everyday consumers."
Dirac Live Bass Control not only ensures time-alignment among all speakers, but it also adjusts phase at low frequencies to ensure the entire spectrum of audio is accurately reproduced. This processing allows the subwoofers to be positioned anywhere in the room – wherever most aesthetically pleasing – without sacrificing performance for design.
“We’re thrilled to now offer our customers the option to enable Dirac Live Bass Control on the NAD M33, M33 V2, M10, M10 V2, M10 V3 and C 658,” said Morten Nielsen, Product Manager at NAD Electronics. “This feature unlocks co-optimization of subwoofers and speakers to significantly improve the blend between low and high frequencies to unlock the full potential of every sound source in the room, free of anomalies caused by the listening environment itself.”
These BluOS enabled streaming amps from NAD can store multiple Dirac filters for different listening positions or room conditions – for example, whether the drapes are open or closed – and each of these presets can be easily changed from the BluOS Controller app.
Dirac Live Bass Control is part of the award-winning Dirac Live family of audio processing software, which also includes Dirac Live Room Correction and Dirac Live Active Room Treatment. Each solution compliments the other to dramatically improve sound performance in any listening area.
