First reviews of the brand-new Cleer Audio ALPHA
January 19, 2022
Time flies! It’s been a month since we announced our collaboration with Cleer Audio. The all-new ALPHA headphones are out now, and we are really excited to read the first reviews of these headphones.
Trusted reviews
Let’s start with the one by Trusted Reviews, one of the most influential reviews websites in the UK. Trusted Reviews gives their readers thorough, unbiased, and independent advice on what to buy. Simon Lucas, the author, describes the design, features, and sound quality of the ALPHA. He explores the sound with Dirac on and off and compares Dirac to Dolby Atmos Music and 360 Reality Audio. Dirac Virtuo is described as a subtle and effective feature.
“Switch Dirac VirtuoTM on, though, and the ALPHA undergo something of a change. Rather than the fairly obvious ‘left’, ‘right’ and ‘middle’ of the basic stereo presentation, Dirac VirtuoTM delivers far more of a 180-degree ‘hemisphere’ effect. But it’s reasonably subtle, and consequently preferable to Dolby Atmos Music or 360 Reality Audio. It sounds more natural, less artificial and processed. and, if you listen to a fairly primitive stereo recording like The Who’s Substitute, altogether smoother and less show-off-y.”, claims Simon.
The verdict is that ALPHA headphones have plenty of features to recommend them – both in sound quality and pride of ownership terms.
Techradar
Techradar, the largest UK-based consumer technology news, and reviews site, recommends buying the Cleer Audio ALPHA headphones if you’re fond of audio subtlety, highlighting that Dirac Virtuo is spatial audio for the discerning listener.
“They’re well made. They’re robust. They’re comfy. They’re extensively specified in every respect, and they have battery life that will comfortably outlast even your longest listening sessions. And in Dirac VirtuoTM, they have the most subtle, and consequently the most effective, spatial audio algorithm around. No matter what you’re listening to, the ALPHA sound convincing, coherent and fully entertaining.”, explains the reviewer.
The audio performance and the difference between Dirac On/Off are described in detail.
“Switch Dirac Virtuo on, though, and ‘expansive’ is a much more applicable word. There’s a great deal more space to the sound, a slight but definite impression of a ‘dome’ of sound rather than the ‘left and right meeting in the center’ of the regular stereo presentation.”, says the author.
Their verdict is that Cleer Audio ALPHA headphones are a thoroughly worthwhile alternative to the obvious choices at this sort of money, offering a convincing and enjoyable sound alongside a long battery life.
These Dirac-enabled headphones will uplevel your listening experience. We’re pretty sure you want to give the all-new ALPHA a try now.
