Dirac and Nothing Expand Collaboration with Launch of New CMF Buds 2 Featuring Dirac Opteo Smart Acoustics Technology

June 5, 2025

The new CMF Buds 2 are the fourth Nothing earbud model to integrate Dirac’s advanced digital audio optimization, delivering high-fidelity, precision-tuned sound performance.

UPPSALA, Sweden, May 22, 2025 — Swedish digital audio pioneer Dirac today announced the expansion of its collaboration with London-based consumer tech innovator Nothing, as the newly launched CMF Buds 2 become the latest wireless earbuds to feature Dirac Opteo™, the company’s premium headphone audio optimization solution.

This marks the fourth product in Nothing’s CMF portfolio to integrate Dirac smart acoustics technology, following the launch of the CMF Buds, CMF Buds 2a, and the CMF Buds Pro 2. By integrating Dirac technology across its product line, Nothing continues to elevate the listening experience with superior clarity, balance, and detail – enabling users to experience sound as the artist intended.

“With the CMF Buds 2, Nothing is delivering premium audio performance that rivals far more expensive alternatives,” said Fredric Tapper, Dirac’s Vice President and Head of Business Development. “Dirac Opteo transforms hardware through patented digital signal optimisation, unlocking high-resolution sound that’s rich, immersive, and true to the source. Our expanding collaboration reflects a shared commitment to making world-class sound more widely accessible.”

Dirac Opteo leverages proprietary audio algorithms to overcome inherent acoustic limitations in headphone hardware. By correcting impulse and frequency response in real time, it delivers a more accurate and natural soundstage, deeper bass, and improved clarity – regardless of the earbud’s physical constraints. The result is a premium audio experience, uniquely tailored to the device’s acoustic profile.

“At Nothing, we’re driven by a desire to push boundaries in design, technology, and performance,” said Andrew Freshwater, Head of Smart Product Marketing at Nothing. “By integrating Dirac Opteo into the CMF Buds 2, we’re ensuring that users experience crystal clear sound quality in a product that’s as refined as it is accessible. Together with Dirac, we’re raising the standard for what consumers can expect from wireless audio.”

The new CMF Buds 2 also feature 48dB hybrid active noise cancellation, six-microphone Clear Voice Technology 3.0, spatial audio, Ultra Bass Technology 2.0, and 11mm custom drivers. With up to 13.5 hours of playback on a single charge – and up to 55 hours with the charging case – the earbuds offer extended performance in an IP55-rated, durable design.

As Dirac continues to redefine what’s possible in digital audio, its growing partnership with Nothing highlights the power of smart acoustics to unlock premium sound experiences across product categories – and across the globe.
